CavePainting and Drawing on Air -- Free-Form 3D
Modeling and Artistic Interfaces
Project lead: Daniel Keefe
How
do we interact with computers in 3D space?

CavePainting and Drawing on Air movies:
- CavePainting (video for I3D 2001 paper)
- Drawing on Air (video accompanying TVCG 2007 paper)
- Scientific Sketching: Using these technologies to prototype scientific visualizations (video accompanying TVCG 2008 paper)
- 3D Drawing: An art-oriented overview of interactive 3D drawing in VR
Effective (controllable, fast, and intuitive) spatial interaction with computers may benefit a number of disciplines, from science to medicine to art. We have been studying novel 3D interaction techniques for computing in a variety of these contexts.
3D modeling for use in visual art is one of our most exciting application areas for this technology. Some of our results in this area are shown here.
